MY Locations
Virtually serving ON and NL. I offer in-person sessions in Westboro, Ottawa, ON on the corner of Scott St. and McRae Ave.
Virtual services are currently provided through Owl Practice, Canada’s most secure and compliant teletherapy videoconferencing platform. Online counselling has the same purpose or intention as counselling conducted in person.
NOTE
It is important to note that online counselling is not a crisis based clinical service and may not be appropriate for clients with active suicidal thoughts, or clients who are experiencing acute mental health problems, such as manic or psychotic symptoms.
Catherine Dwyer Counselling does not offer crisis services. Please do not use telephone voicemail, e-mail, texts, social media or Owl Practice messaging for emergencies as they are not monitored 24-7.
If you are experiencing an emergency, you should call 911 or go to your local emergency room. You can also call your local 24-7 mental health crisis lines at 613-722-6914 (within Ottawa) or 1-866-996-0991 (toll free outside Ottawa); 709-737-4668 (within St. John’s) or 1-888-737-4668 (toll free outside St. John’s).
Fees and Policies
Session Fees
50 min individual counselling session: $170
Counselling services are not covered by provincial medical plans (such as OHIP or MCP) but may be fully or partially covered by your insurance plan. Please check your specific plan for details.
As a social worker, I am deeply committed to accessibility and believe mental health care should be available and affordable for everyone. I offer flexible rates to clients based on their ability to pay and/or access insurance. Please don’t hesitate to ask about your options.
PAYMENT POLIcy
Payment is expected within 24 hours of receiving your invoice by email and may be made by e-transfer to info@catherinedwyer.ca. A receipt will be issued to you by email within 24 hours of receiving payment.
Please note: all past outstanding balances must be paid before booking a new appointment. This includes past attended sessions, late cancellations or no shows.
INSURANCE
Most insurance plans cover all or a portion of the cost of counselling sessions received from a Registered Social Worker (RSW) or Master of Social Work (MSW). Please check your specific plan for details as coverage is different for each policy. Verify that your plan covers counselling with an MSW, RSW.
You will be provided with a receipt for each session once payment is received which can then be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement or claimed as a medical expense on your income tax return if you do not have coverage with an insurance provider.
It is your responsibility to ensure your sessions are covered by your policy and to know the limits of insurance coverage.
CANCELLATIONS
Clients can cancel or reschedule an appointment anytime, for any reason, with a minimum of 24 hours-notice. A late cancellation and/or rescheduling (less than 24 hours-notice) will result in a half session charge. If you are more than 15 minutes late or a no show for an appointment you will be charged a full session rate.
Life happens and it’s not always possible to provide sufficient notice. In the event of emergencies or unusual circumstances, session fees may be waived if an appointment is cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment.
You can opt to receive appointment reminders for your sessions, however, it’s your responsibility to keep track of your appointments.
